The World Emoji Day is an unofficial holiday in different parts of the world. It has been observing on July 17 since 2014. Also, this day encourages the use of emoji to send messages.
What is emoji?
Emoji is a unique symbol especially in use while transferring messages. It is the digital symbolic icons for digital calendars. More interestingly, it is a Japanese expression founded by Shigetaka Kurita in 1990.
Furthermore, Emojis are the smileys mostly in use in electronic messages. It can be of various varieties including expressions, objects, gift, direction, and many more.
Emoticons were in use before the initiation of emoji. Emoticons were the combination of emotion and icons which togetherly form emoticons. These used to express both cold and happy expressions in the message.
Emoji got its popularity after 2010. The time when emoji’s formerly added in some of the android mobile phones. However, in 2007, it was embedded into the first Apple mobile phone. Now, it has been an integral part of the digital world.
History of World Emoji Day

Jeremy Burge is considered to be the father of world emoji day. He is also the founder of emojipedia. Emojipedia is the website that describes the real meaning of emoji. It was first created in 2013.
World emoji day has been observing since 2014, July 17. This was the time when apple users on apple’s calendar showed July 17 as a “calendar icon”. Then several tweets appeared marking June 17 as an official emoji day.
Since 2017, Apple has used each emoji day as the day to announce the expansion of emoji on iOS.

This day encourages the use of more emoji. Also, it encourages the use of #worldemojiday on every tweet on the occasion of this day.
In addition to this, there is also the emoji award. You can vote for your favorite emoji. Later, that emoji will be the best emoji or emoji of the year. Apple introduced 70 new emoji this year including more faces, expression, animals etc.
